A report of the implementation of a Climate-induced Disaster Management Project in all ten (10) regions of Ghana by a consortium of Royal HaskoningDHV and the WASH Sector of SNV Ghana. The “Community Resilience through Early Warning (CREW)” Project aimed at building the resilience of vulnerable (hotspot) communities against disasters through strengthening their capacity to withstand and reduce the risks associated with harmful climatic effects and impacts.

The first line of action which was to train community-based actors and to introduce participants to the most common Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Framework. The participants gained some understanding of and built capacity to implement community-based activities that will address their common community’s vulnerabilities to disasters. They also contributed to the search for a way to build the resilience of their vulnerable communities against disasters through strengthening their capacity to withstand and reduce the risks associated with harmful climatic effects and impacts. The purpose of this training was to harness the community’s knowledge and skills to increase the capability of community-based actors towards effectively addressing disaster management responsibilities.
